Stop the clocks

Created by Michael 3 years ago

Stop all the clocks, cut off the phones;
Prevent messages appearing with insistent tones.
Silence the trains with troublesome trucks
Put the 'Flowertots' back in their huts.

Cease the birds singing their cheerful tweets,
Let the meadow be covered in black tar sheets.
Stop the berries ripening along the lane,
Don’t sing ‘The Grapefruit Song’ ever again.

She tried so hard but her lows were low
In a world where uncertainty takes a bow.
She stood no chance to find her rainbow
I thought there would be time to watch her grow.

To make the world a better place was one of her dreams
She had the talent to do this, and more, in reams.
Swimming and running and diving and fun
She’d have had countless adventures under the sun.

Her energy, her enthusiasm, her passion, her fire
Made her lovely to be with and her loss so great.
It’s hard to see a future without her smile.
There are conversations unsaid but now too late.

These are my thoughts at the moment;
they may change with time but I will always miss her.
