Miss Blackthorn 27th January 2021

Today, like so many other days this year, I am thinking of Emily. I had the pleasure of teaching Emily, a privilege I treasure. Emily's intelligence, both emotionally and intellectually, was shown in the way she thought so deeply about the issues that were discussed in class and how she wrote in a way that showed how much she cared for others and the world around her. Emily made the world a better place. Thinking about the beautiful heart that the world is now missing is a painful reminder of how precious life is. Caring so much, as Emily did, can also hurt so deeply. Emily, now at peace, I wish all your family and friends the strength that is needed to carry on in your name and live their lives in a way that you would have loved. X
